Project Standards Sharing

For a project, it is desirable to be able to share and update the project standards across the project users. This sharing and update can now be very easily achieved with the Project Standards Sharing Service for CONNECTED users working on a ProjectWise Project. With the Project Standards Sharing Service, team members of a ProjectWise Project will always be able to use the latest and updated project standards in their work. Also, new team members will be able to quickly come on-board by using the correct and updated set of project standards.

The project standards are by default located in the Standards folder of your WorkSet. The WorkSet is assigned a ProjectWise Project and the contents of this folder are uploaded on the Project Portal. The CONNECTED users of the project can then synchronize the project standards to always get the updated standards.

The following diagram provides an overview of the Project Standards Sharing Service.

To Upload Project Standards on the Project Portal

Make sure you are in a WorkSet that is assigned a ProjectWise Project.

On the Work page, from the WorkSet drop-down list, select the WorkSet whose standards you want to share.
On the right-side of the Work page, click Show All Properties.
Click the Share button next to the Standard Files property.
An alert window pops-up asking whether you want to share Project Standards with other members of the project.
Click Share.
Note: Depending on the size of the standards, uploading may take time. While the upload takes place, you cannot perform any other task in AECOsim Building Designer.
Click OK.

Downloading Project Standards from the Project Portal

If your WorkSet is assigned a ProjectWise Project that has its project standards shared on the Project Portal, the CONNECTION Client synchronizes with the standards on the Project Portal after every 30 minutes. However, download happens only when you activate the WorkSet, that is, open a file from that WorkSet. Once the download is complete, you get a pop-up message confirming the download is complete.

While creating the WorkSet, if you assign a ProjectWise Project that has its project standards shared on the Project Portal, the project standards are automatically downloaded.

Note: Depending on the size of the standards, downloading may take time. While the download takes place, you cannot perform any other task in AECOsim Building Designer.
